On September 26th, the Yancheng Port Automated Container Yard was awarded the Verification Statement of Organizing Carbon Neutralization by TUV Sü ddeutsche Group, becoming the first yard project in China to be certified as “carbon neutral”.

According to reports, TUV Sü ddeutsche Group is one of the international authoritative certification bodies. Yancheng Port Automated Container Yard has a total investment of 450 million yuan and covers an area of 400 mu. It was officially put into operation in 2022, and it is the first automated container yard in Jiangsu coastal areas, and won the carbon neutrality commitment certificate in 2023. During this verification, TUV Sü ddeutsche Zeitung verified that the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions of Category 1-4 in the automated container yard of Jiangsu Yancheng Port Shipping Group in Dafeng Port Area of Yancheng Port reached carbon neutrality from August 1, 2023 to July 31, 2024, and confirmed that it met the standard requirements.

Since the operation of the storage yard, Yancheng Port Group has formulated a carbon emission management plan and made every effort to build a “zero carbon storage yard”. Realize the full coverage of photovoltaic panels, vigorously promote the use of "electric card" and other equipment, reduce the energy consumption of a single container by about 70% compared with traditional fuel equipment, and greatly increase the proportion of clean energy. Build a “green electricity” energy microgrid, and fully realize the cleanliness of the energy mix of the automatic yard. It is planned to use 2,887,500 kWh of green electricity and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1,677.64 tons. At the same time, make full use of the existing inland river electric container ships, carry out the “shuttle bus” business of sea-river combined transport, and strive to build the first “all-green” zero-carbon full-chain logistics in China from inland river transportation to vehicle short barge to yard lifting and unloading, and to dock loading and unloading.
